What Is Mobile Responsive Design?

Did the layout of the desktop version change when compared to the phone or mobile-device version?
If you answered yes, this is frequently referred to as mobile responsive design. The website automatically adapted to the screen’s size to enhance your experience (often referred to as user experience) to keep you engaged and on the webpage.
Typically there are three screen sizes to consider where mobile responsiveness is concerned. They are desktops (both widescreen and smaller laptops), tablets (such as an iPad, Kindle), and phones.
Why Should I Care About Mobile Responsive Design?
Imagine opening a website to see microscopic text that requires you to zoom in to read while simultaneously needing to adjust the screen left and right to read the line. Sounds pretty annoying, right?
This type of design is indicative of an older website or rigid template (often purchased cheaply) and will almost always lead to a high client bounce rate, meaning anyone who lands on your website will quickly leave. That’s not good for your business and bottom line.
Optimize your content with a modern design and platform to avoid an uptick in bounce rate.
Sometimes, however, a design element (such as a picture) that looks nice on a desktop won’t seem so unnecessary on the phone version and may cause distractions. Consult your website developer to customize.
Another thing to consider is which platform is most frequently visited by your guests. Google Analytics will show you how many people visited your website on their phones, tablets, or computers within the past week, month, or year. If most users learn about you on their iPhone or Android, you’ll want to invest in something custom. Again, we seriously recommend talking to a designer for something customized that you won’t be able to get in a template.
Is Creating a Mobile Responsive Website Easy?

For our DIY website builders/business owners, creating a mobile-responsive site may seem like an absolute nightmare. In addition to learning the basics of creating a desktop site, you’ll need to double your efforts to develop the phone version. And trust me when I say one simple, stupid mistake on one version can destroy all the work you’ve put into the other.
For professional website designers who have purchased the necessary software, creating a mobile-friendly version is relatively straightforward. A few clicks and the entire website can automatically change regardless of how a visitor reads your content.
Like a purchased template, however, these programs require the skill set of someone who understands custom code such as HTML and CSS. And the website builders (such as Divi or Elementor) could end up costing you a few hundred dollars a year in required subscriptions.
Mobile-responsive is the future
